Abstract

Agriculture plays a very important role in the economy of Kenya. With a population of over 25 million people, 77% are employed in the agricultural sector. The constant drought and famine in parts of Kenya has led her Government to encourage smallholder farmers to diversify food crop production to ensure food security, improve national food and nutritional status and provide raw material for industries.
