Abstract

The greatest setback facing agricultural planners and researchers in Kenya is the development of suitable and appropriate technologies that promote production of adequate food for the county's growing population now estimated at more than 25 million people. Various national development plans have set a growth rate of 5 % in agriculture in order to compensate for an ever-declining per capital reduction in the size of arable farmlands.
