Abstract

To study the effects of tied-ridges on water conservation (soil water storage) aiming to develop suitable and dependable integrated rainwater harvesting and nutrient management options that can be used by the farming community for cowpea and maize intercropping systems in the Kenyan arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs) to improve and sustain crop production. To popularize, through on-farm demonstration trials, the use of biofertilizers in order to sustain seed production and improve soil nitrogen fertility in smallholder farming systems.
