(1980) reported that goats spent much of their time eating leaves and shoots .of trees and bushes. Browse plants, which form an important part of goats' diet (Devendra and Bums, 1970) especially in rural setting abound in the sub-sub-Saharan region of Africa. However, •information on their chemical components is scanty (Le Houerou, 1980 and Agishi, 1986).
