Item Overstocking in Sukumaland Tanganyika(1965) McCulloch B.Most people living in Africa south of the Sahara, have an insufficient quantity of animal protein in their diets (Ndep. 1961). This well-known observation is Supported by Payne, 1963, who has shown that even with orderly marketing, the cattle, sheep and goat populations of Tanganyika, could only provide some 10 per cent of the optimum daily intake of animal protein required by Tanganyikans.
